Dr. Randy Kluver, Oklahoma State University associate provost and dean of OSU Global, was recently honored with the Global Vision Leadership Award at the 2024 Global Achievement Awards hosted by Sister Cities International Oklahoma City.

The event, held on Nov. 22 at the Embassy Suites in Oklahoma City, celebrated state leaders in education, government and business advancing global cooperation and cultural understanding statewide.

"At our core, Sister Cities OKC International recognizes, celebrates and magnifies the catalytic power of people-to-people interaction through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation — one individual, one community at a time,” event organizers said. "Sister Cities International OKC recognizes private citizens, municipal officials, business leaders and businesses for conducting long-term programs of mutual benefit with our sister cities and promoting our mission to ‘Connect globally, thrive locally.’”

As OSU’s senior international officer, Kluver has redefined the university's global engagement and reputation. Under his transformative leadership, he has led revitalizing initiatives such as the resettlement of Afghan refugees in Oklahoma. A distinguished expert in Asian political communication, geopolitics and new media studies, Kluver has authored five books and numerous journal articles exploring globalization, soft power and Asian politics.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by the Oklahoma City Sister Cities organization,” Kluver said. “This group has been at the forefront of global engagement for decades, and for them to recognize our efforts to bring OSU to be a leading institution in international research and education makes me tremendously grateful.

Other Sister Cities honorees included Dr. Charles W. Grim, Chickasaw Nation Development of Goodwill, who received the Global Vision Lifetime Achievement Award, and Lopez-Dorada Foods, which received the organization’s Global Vision Award.
