OSU students shine at Midwest Model UN, bringing home nine awards

Oklahoma State University students recently attended the regional Midwest Model United Nations conference in St. Louis and returned with an impressive nine awards. 

These awards showcase their excellence in diplomacy, research and leadership. The conference, held Feb. 19-22, brought together delegations from institutions regionwide to engage in high-level simulations of international diplomacy.

Among the outstanding achievements:

  • Delegate’s Choice Award: Daniel Bonilla
  • Best Position Papers: Daniel Bonilla, Ruth Ziadzi, Yassal Ahmar
  • Outstanding Delegation: Brantley Wallace
  • Outstanding Delegation: Daniel Bonilla
  • Distinguished Delegation: Wesley Hurlbut, Ruth Ziadzi, Yassal Ahmar and Brantley Wallace
  • Honorable Mention: Triton Snodgrass
  • Honorable Mention: Brantley Wallace and Triton Snodgrass

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication and hard work,” said MaKenzie Norman, faculty advisor for the delegation. “Their ability to think critically, collaborate and represent their positions with confidence truly stood out at this year’s conference.”

OSU’s delegation represented the countries of Ecuador and China, and competed against teams from around the Midwest, demonstrating exceptional skills in diplomacy, research and negotiation. Their success highlights the university’s strong commitment to fostering global awareness and leadership among students.
