Graduate students, faculty and staff honored with Phoenix and service awards

Megan Scott, a Ph.D. student in agricultural education, was awarded the graduate student Phoenix Award by the Graduate and Professional Student Government Association.

The Graduate Professional Student Government Association (GPSGA) presented Meagan Scott, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Agricultural Education, with the doctoral student Phoenix Award April 15, the highest honor given to an OSU graduate student. The association also honored faculty member Dr. Sheila M. Kennison with the faculty Phoenix Award. Kennison, director of the Cognitive Science Laboratory in the Department of Psychology, and Scott were recognized at the annual spring Graduate College awards ceremony sponsored by the college and the GPSGA.

As sponsor of the Phoenix awards, the GPSGA recognizes achievement in scholarship, leadership, professional involvement, and university and community service, especially related to involvement with graduate students. Faculty members nominate students considered for the Phoenix, while students nominate professors for the faculty Phoenix.

Dr. Gail Wilson, Department of Natural Resources Ecology and Management, was named the 2016 Outstanding Graduate Coordinator at the annual Graduate Coordinator and Program Staff appreciation breakfast April 13. Michelle Kuehn, veterinary biomedical sciences, was honored with the Outstanding Program Staff Award. The awards recognize the exemplary service of faculty and staff who lead and manage graduate programs.

Douglas Knutson, Department of Counseling Psychology, was recognized with the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award at the Graduate College awards ceremony.

The Graduate College awards ceremony is held each year during Graduate Education Week.
