Debbie Macomber fell in love with reading and stories at a young age, but while storytelling came naturally to her, becoming a writer was a challenge.
This fall, Macomber will share a sincere account of her path to becoming one of the world’s most beloved authors at an exclusive gathering of Oklahoma State University Library supporters.
On Oct. 9, Macomber will take the stage at the H. Louise & H.E. “Ed” Cobb Speaker Series, the largest annual fundraiser for the Friends of the OSU Library, which provides support for the university’s libraries.
“Debbie Macomber is a book club favorite and has been on our wish list of speakers for years,” Dean of Libraries Sheila Johnson said. “We’re eager to host this leading voice in contemporary women’s fiction.”
Macomber, best known for her beloved "Cedar Cove" and "Rose Harbor" series, is the author of numerous bestsellers. She has also published cookbooks, nonfiction, an adult coloring book, and two acclaimed children’s books. Every year, she delights her readers with a Christmas novel, six of which have been made into original Hallmark Channel movies. Her "Cedar Cove" series was adapted as the Hallmark Channel’s first scripted dramatic series and ran for three seasons.
The Cobb Speaker Series will be held at ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Ticket holders will enjoy dinner, complimentary wine service, and a keynote and Q&A with Macomber. The event closes with a book signing. Selections of Macomber’s work will be available for purchase.
Tickets are on sale now, but seating is limited. Individual tickets are $125, and half the cost is a tax-deductible gift to the Friends of the OSU Library. Tables and sponsorship opportunities are available. Call 405-744-9757 or visit friends.library.okstate.edu to purchase tickets.
