Through the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, OSU is the only university with a statewide presence in all 77 Oklahoma counties.
Miss America to discuss STEM education at OSU Research Week

Miss America 2014, Nina Davuluri, will discuss the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education as part of a panel presentation during OSU Research Week. The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, February 20, at 7 p.m. in the Stillwater campus’ Wes Watkins Center. Davuluri is a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Education’s national STEM Coalition and plans to pursue medical school following her stint as Miss America.
Other panelists include:
* Elaine Hutchison, the 2013 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year and an advanced math instructor at Fairview High School
* Captain Heather E. Cole, Commander of Strategic Communications Wing ONE and Task Force 124 at Tinker Air Force Base
* Dr. Jennifer Volberding, Assistant Professor and Athletic Training Program Director for OSU
* Dr. Wes Fryer, Digital Learning Consultant for Speed of Creativity Learning LLC
Each speaker will present his or her background and display the broad spectrum of success achievable through STEM studies. The event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a question and answer segment and a reception. It will also be aired live on http://www.ostate.tv/.
Research Week, which is February 17-21, will feature a variety of other speakers, symposiums, performances and presentations aimed at highlighting the impact of research and creative activity.
