OSU gets statewide wellness recognition for second year in a row

BlueCross and BlueShield of Oklahoma has recognized OSU with the Wellness Shark award for outstanding health and wellness achievement and as the overall winner in the statewide Workplace Wellness Awards.

“This is the second year in a row that OSU has won this honor and we are especially thankful for the enthusiastic participation of our employees. We also appreciate all those who have contributed their time and talent to serve the wellness needs of our employees and make this level of achievement possible,” said Jamie Payne, assistant vice president and chief human resources officer at OSU.

BCBS listed the following as reasons that OSU was again selection for the honor:

-Conducted aggressive Health Risk Assessment campaign to increase completion rate by 20%
-Conducted Metabolic Syndrome Program for 2011 and 2012, which was free to qualifying OSU benefits employees
-Participated in the Healthy Interactions Pilot
-Ongoing Wellness Wednesdays campaign for employees, featuring a different health topic each month
-Conducted a health fair and picnic for employees
-Participated in National Walk@Lunch Day
-Participated in Walking FUNdamentals Program
-Implemented Diabetes Prevention and Awareness Program
-Increased enforcement of a tobacco-free campus

“Making memberships to the Colvin Recreation Center and Seretean Wellness Center a benefit for employees also was a huge step forward as OSU is striving to be America’s Healthiest Campus,” said Anne Matoy, assistant vice president administration and finance special projects. She and Payne also applauded the ongoing support of President Burns Hargis as well as the leadership and personal participation of First Cowgirl Ann Hargis in a variety of wellness programs.
