OSU-OKC, OSUIT to join Fiestas de las Américas parade in OKC
Wednesday, September 17, 2025
Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City will return to the Fiestas de las Américas parade for a second consecutive year, this time in partnership with OSU Institute of Technology, as part of Oklahoma City’s largest Hispanic heritage celebration.
OSU-OKC and OSUIT are both seeking volunteer faculty and staff to take part in the festivities.
The Parade of the Americas will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning at Scissortail Park and traveling south on Robinson Avenue to Calle Dos Cinco in Historic Capitol Hill. The parade is the centerpiece of the Fiestas de las Américas festival, which draws thousands of attendees annually and features nearly 100 entries from schools, businesses, community organizations and cultural groups.
OSU-OKC and OSUIT will be represented by faculty, staff, students and branded vehicles during the parade. The joint participation reflects a collaborative effort to engage with the community and highlight educational opportunities across the OSU System.
Following the parade, the festival continues throughout the day with live music, folkloric dance performances, artisan markets, food vendors and family friendly activities.
Fiestas de las Américas has been held annually since 2006 and is scheduled during Hispanic Heritage Month. The celebration is organized by the Calle Dos Cinco Business District and aims to promote cultural pride, community engagement and economic development in south Oklahoma City.
