OSU students take the stage for Varsity Revue

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Seven casts comprised of more than 250 fraternity and sorority members will showcase song and dance performances at Varsity Revue, Feb. 25-28.

Varsity Revue is an annual OSU vocal stage performance where Greek pairings prepare choreographed shows on a competitive level to raise money and awareness for a philanthropic organization. This year’s organization is the United Way. The performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 25-28. The Feb. 27 show will be streamed live on OStateTv starting at 7 p.m. Winners will be announced following the Feb. 28 performance. Tickets for Varsity Revue are $12 and can be purchased at http://okstate.showclix.com.

During the fall semester, about 10 pairings try out to be a part of the final Varsity Revue show. Seven pairings are selected to perform in the final show in the Seretean Center Concert Hall. Performances are professionally judged on vocals, choreography, theme, costumes and entertainment value. The audience will also be given the opportunity to choose the crowd favorite performance.

Megan Edmonds, Varsity Revue graduate teaching assistant, is eager for the audience to enjoy the show students have worked so hard to perfect.

“The show is a great way to bring the community together to support a cause and appreciate the talents of OSU students,” Edmonds said.

In addition to the performers, Varsity Revue is made possible by the executive director, Ben Brownlee, and assistant executive director, Becca Henry, as well as a hard-working steering committee. Theme baskets are also provided by the steering committee for an auction in which proceeds are donated to the United Way. Last year, the program raised about $18,000, and the goal this year is to raise more than $20,000 for the United Way.

This is the 87th year of OSU students serving others through their talents by participating in the show. Varsity Revue is sponsored by the Oklahoma State University Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. An executive team and steering members organized and planned all aspects of Varsity Revue.
