Friday, October 25, 2013

The OSU/A&M Board of Regents today approved the hiring of Suzanne (Suzy) Harrington as chief wellness officer at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

Harrington was chosen for the position following a national search.  She began her duties earlier this month and is overseeing all programs and operations involving health and wellness on the Stillwater campus.

“We are excited to have Suzy join our leadership team,” said OSU President Burns Hargis.  “This new position emphasizes the commitment we have to the well-being of our students and employees as OSU strives to be America’s Healthiest Campus.”

Prior to OSU, Harrington served as the director of health, safety and wellness for the American Nurses Association in Silver Spring, Maryland.  She holds a doctorate of nursing practice from Rush University and a master of science in health services from the California College for Health Sciences and a bachelor of science in nursing from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.

A registered nurse, Harrington also has served as an adjunct professor at both Independence University in West Haven, Connecticut and Capella University in Minneapolis.

OSU currently offers several programs and services for complete health and wellness of the mind and body for faculty, staff, students and members of its wellness facilities.  Those sponsored programs include nutrition counseling, health risk assessments, group fitness, intramurals, adaptive sports, personal training, and employee assistance.
