Popular Theatre Troupe returns to Stillwater

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Test your detective skills as you watch the legendary sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, take the stage in a witty, fast-paced production of “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” performed by the acclaimed Aquila Theatre Company on Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall.  Audience members are also sure to enjoy the adaptations of Doyle’s other famous characters, including Irene Adler, Dr. Watson and Jebez Wilson performed by actors from top British and American stages.

Known for their imaginatively-staged praiseworthy productions, the Aquila Theatre Company is based in both New York City and London and tours nationwide delivering educational programs and theater performances to a select number of cities. Stillwater is excited to welcome them for an encore performance following their “Fahrenheit 451” production in 2014. Theater-lovers, bookworms, detective-diehards and Sherlock Holmes fans will all enjoy this classical theater production.

“Aquila has done a fantastic job in the past working with our students and performing at OSU. The students on the selection committee were really excited about bringing this title to campus,” said Brandon Mitts, Arts Culture and Entertainment manager.  “It will be a unique opportunity for the audience to experience such a strong literary character in the flesh.”

Tickets for the performance are $22 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at tickets.okstate.edu or by phone at 405-744-7509. Tickets will also be available at the Seretean Center Concert Hall the evening of the performance beginning at 6:30. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The Aquila Theatre Company performance is the second installment in the 2015-2016 OSU Allied Arts series. For decades the OSU Allied Arts office has brought top-notch talent to the Oklahoma State University campus. The Allied Arts office seeks to enrich the lives of students through the arts. Allied Arts hosts six performances during the year. For more information about Allied Arts and the Aquila Theatre Company, visit alliedarts.okstate.edu.
