Porter named OSU Student Employee of the Year

Adam Porter of Cushing has been named the 2010 Student Employee of the Year at Oklahoma State University.
A ceremony on April 8 in the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center honored this year’s 73 student employees who were nominated from on and off campus and announced the top six student employees.
The event is sponsored by the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, OSU Career Services, and many Stillwater businesses that provided gifts for the top six finalists.
Porter, a junior majoring in management information systems, was nominated by his supervisor, Dr. David Rubenstein, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering. He is the son of Burr Porter of Cushing and Judy Porter of Hampton, Va., and is a 2001 graduate of Cushing High School.
As the 2010 OSU Student Employee of the Year, Porter was presented with a $500 check from the OSU Division of Student Affairs, floor seats to a men’s basketball game from OSU Athletics, and a framed certificate.
Other finalists for the honor were David Ayres, Pryor industrial engineering and management senior who was nominated by Joe Akin of Ocean Dental; Loren Henderson, Morrison English senior who was nominated by Dr. Jennifer Olson, assistant extension specialist in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology; Amanda Quaney, first year veterinary medicine student from Cheney, Kan., who was nominated by Dr. Anthony Confer, Regents Professor of Veterinary Pathobiology; Mohammed Rahi, Baghdad mechanical engineering junior who was nominated by Kirsten Fullerton, Office of International Students and Scholars; and Dana Sewell, Jenks accounting senior who was nominated by Shelby Clanahan of the Spears School of Business dean’s office.
