Veterans Benefits Brief and claims assistance set for OSU Student Union

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Student Union Ballroom

The public is invited to a Veteran Benefits Brief followed by free benefit claims assistance on Saturday, Feb. 27, starting at 10 a.m. in the OSU Student Union Ballroom (room 265).

Veterans, family members, friends and interested parties are especially encouraged to attend the two-hour brief, which will cover benefits available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Following the brief, one-on-one claims assistance will be provided by National Service Officers from the Muskogee office of the Disabled American Veterans as well as Chapter Veteran Service Officers from the organization.

Veterans with questions about current benefits need to bring a copy of their VA Award Letter and any additional documents that may be pertinent. Individuals wishing to file a new claim, should bring their military discharge documents, any appropriate medical records involving the condition, along with any previous correspondence with the VA. If you’re not sure what to bring, this event will be a great opportunity to learn and begin the process of obtaining veterans benefits earned by defending our nation.

For more information, contact Richard Hansen with Veteran Student Academic Services at OSU, phone (405) 744-1390 or email richard.hansen@okstate.edu.
