WINTER’S HAWK: Red-tails on the Southern Plains

The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is pleased to share news from the University of Oklahoma Press about the publication of WINTER’S HAWK: Red-tails on the Southern Plains by James W. Lish.

Lish is an associate professor of Physiological Sciences at the veterinary center. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals including the Proceeding of the Oklahoma Academy of Sciences, The Southwestern Naturalist, the Journal of Raptor Research, and the Bulletin of the Oklahoma Ornithological Society.

Lish draws on more than 40 years’ experience as a professional biologist and ornithologist to present almost 200 color photographs of Red-tails and relate important lessons in southern Great Plains biodiversity, underscoring the place of the Red-tailed Hawk in Oklahoma’s tallgrass prairie ecology.

The book is available from online booksellers, in bookstores, and directly from the University of Oklahoma Press at www.oupress.com or 1-800-627-7377. For an author interview, please contact Sandy See, publicist at the University of Oklahoma Press, at (405) 325-3200 or ssee@ou.edu.
