Class of 2017 Pays It Forward

Class of 2017 Pays It Forward

Monday, December 18, 2017

The class of 2017 at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is ‘paying it forward’ literally. The class made a departing gift of $1,200 to establish the Pay It Forward Fund.

The Fund is designed to provide clients a way to get their animals the care they need when the client may not be able to afford it at the time. It is also intended to provide treatment for stray animals in need of veterinary medical attention.

“The intention of the ‘pay it forward’ aspect is the hope that clients who use it will make contributions and that our class, our families, and the community will make yearly contributions to the fund,” explains Dr. Kaitlyn Coyes, one of two class representatives. “Our class worked really hard at fundraising so that we would have money to use for our benefit with enough left to donate back to the school when the time came. We were excited when we found out that we had enough money to establish this fund.”

Some previous graduating class gifts have included tools or equipment that could be used by future classes to improve learning.

“We wanted to give something that the hospital/school really needed; something that would last year after year, continues Coyes. “The potential for this fund to grow exponentially and be able to help several animals in need is really what made our class excited about creating the fund.”

Since the Pay It Forward Fund was established earlier this year, it has more than doubled thanks to generous donations from class members, alumni, and friends.

If you share the passion of helping animals in need, please consider partnering with the Class of 2017 as they continue to “pay it forward” by giving to the Pay it Forward Fund.
