Rudd Presents at NW Classen Career Day
Friday, March 3, 2017
Jennifer Rudd, DVM, recently traveled to Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, to participate in their Academy of Health Sciences Career Day 2017. Rudd, a 2011 graduate of Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, is currently a Ph.D. student and research associate in the center’s Department of Physiological Sciences.
Rudd presented “Opportunities in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences” to approximately 75 high school students.
“I discussed veterinary and biomedical sciences careers including clinical practice, specialties, public health, research, and veterinary technician programs,” explained Rudd. “I also shared information about the schooling involved and how to best prepare for these career paths and encouraged students to be bold and pursue their passions for science.”
The academy is seeking industry partners to host students for compensated internship experiences between their junior and senior years.
“Several of these students expressed an interest in the veterinary fields,” added Rudd.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can provide support or host an intern for the Academy, please contact Cassie Sharp at cmsharp1@okcps.org.
