The Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine Continuing Education office hosted its annual Fall Conference on Nov. 14-15 at the Roger J. Panciera Education Center.

The Fall Conference is held each year for veterinarians and veterinary technicians to earn the continuing education credits required to renew their licenses. This year, on the conference's final day, there were 622 registrants.

Each year, during the Fall Conference, the OSU CVM Class of 1963 Distinguished Lectureship provides the keynote presentation.

This year, Dr. Wondwossen Gebreyes gave a presentation titled “Global One Health Paradigm: Strengthening Capacity in Low-Resource Settings.

Gebreyes is a Hazel C. Youngberg Distinguished Professor of molecular epidemiology and the executive director of Ohio State University's global One Health initiative.

“It was absolutely fantastic to be here at the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine Fall Conference,” Gebreyes said. “It was wonderful to see all of the practitioners, scientists and industry group leaders come together in one place.”

The Class of 1963 Distinguished Lectureship also includes a breakfast each year during the fourth-year grand rounds class during the fall conference. Gebreyes presented to the fourth-year class during that breakfast.

"It is a privilege to have the class of 1963 host an annual breakfast for our fourth-year students during Grand Rounds, providing an opportunity to hear from the esteemed keynote speaker," said Dr. Rosslyn Biggs, assistant clinical professor, beef cattle extension specialist and CVM director of continuing education.

Because of the Class of 1963 Distinguished Lectureship, fourth-year students have the opportunity to gain valuable insights each year during the Fall Conference Grand Rounds Breakfast and keynote address.

“We were honored to welcome such a distinguished speaker to the 2024 OSU CVM Fall Conference,” said Dr. Jerry Ritchey, interim dean. “We are grateful to Dr. Tom Loafmann and the class of 1963 for their continual support in ensuring an exceptional keynote speaker at the Fall Conference.”
