A visit with Career Services leads to alum’s growing career

Victor Letbetter ('88 computer science) visited with a company recruiter while at OSU and it turned it into a career developing simulation software for the F-16 Fighting Falcon and supported both avionic hardware labs and pure simulation and demonstration labs for the F-35 Lighting II combat aircraft.

Zane Pedersen has spent his whole life in Oklahoma and hopes to attend medical school in Oklahoma starting next fall. He is an honors student majoring in physiology with a pre-med focus and a psychology minor. Cecil recognized for excellence in mentoring

Dr. Joe Cecil recently received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring from the National Science Foundation. Dr. Cecil was recognized for his unique approach to mentoring and encouraging minority and under-represented to pursue STEM educations and careers through Virtual Reality based Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) as part of a grassroots program called Soaring Eagle Program which he started 22 years ago.

English Ph.D. candidate named Honorary Graduate Commencement Marshal

Finishing a Ph.D. is an immense accomplishment in and of itself, but Tomie Bitton gets to add one more accolade to her resume: Honorary Graduate Commencement Marshal. The native Californian, who is graduating in English with an emphasis in creative nonfiction, decided to “put my name in the hat” after reading that the Graduate College was accepting applications earlier this year.

Ethics Club win at regionals sets them up for second nationals appearance in three years

On November 14, OSU’s Ethics Club beat out more than a dozen university teams from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas to clinch the regional championship title at the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics’ Texas Bowl. The win qualifies them for nationals for the second time in the team’s five-year history.
