Cowboy Technologies, LLC has announced a successful first round of investment funding that will make arsenic removal technology available for real-world applications. The university-owned, for-profit company successfully closed on $1.1 million of A-round investment funding for Associated Material Processing, LLC (AMP) on June 28.

Cowboy Technologies (CT) collaborated with Dr. Allen Apblett, professor of chemistry at Oklahoma State University, to advance his innovation from the laboratory into AMP’s current business model. AMP has developed proprietary arsenic adsorption products, including AMP 25 -for semiconductor industry application and AMP 35 -for drinking water treatment.  CT, along with early seed funding from i2E, Inc., then launched the company by providing initial investments and resources.

“I thank all the people who supported AMP through this process and especially the CT Board of Directors” said Steve Wood, CEO of Cowboy Technologies.

This A-round investment was led by OK Seed Step Angels, a group managed by i2E, Inc., along with other participants including Cowboy Technology Angels, Cowboy Technologies, LLC and other alumni providing angel funding. These investments will be utilized to increase production and marketing efforts of this novel, highly efficient arsenic removal media.

“We consider this investment round to be critical in moving our arsenic removal technology from a chemistry laboratory at OSU into the real, commercial world,” said Dr. David Waits, AMP’s chief executive officer.

AMP is also pursuing other market applications for its high performance chemicals.
