OSU Jazz Orchestra releases third album, ‘Angular Tuesday’

The OSU Jazz Orchestra added to its discography with the release of its third commercially-available album, “Angular Tuesday,” on February 6. The eight songs on the album — directed by Dr. Tommy Poole — vary in style from Swing to Latin Jazz to Jazz Fusion and feature three different iterations of the ensemble from 2020 to 2023. The title track on the album was composed and arranged by former Oklahoma State University student Matthew Howell.

More Than a Memory: Brooks returns to OSU to offer insights on music industry

Brooks shared his wisdom as a country music superstar with OSU students in September in three masterclass sessions. Industry Insights with Garth Brooks at The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts gave students a chance to ask the 1984 advertising alumnus about his career and hear advice from Brooks and a panel of music industry experts.

OSU Opera Theatre wins third in National Opera Association competition

The National Opera Association (NOA) recently announced that Oklahoma State University Opera Theatre’s 2021-2022 production of Handel’s Rinaldo won third place in Division II of the NOA Production Competition. The Opera Theatre program, part of the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music, will receive the award at the NOA’s 68th Annual National Conference in Houston in January.
