OSU FST receives grant for new mobile fire lab for Advanced Fire Behavior course

FST’s Advanced Fire Behavior course, which has been taught for 15 years, will soon be enhanced thanks to an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency of more than $196,000 to purchase a new mobile fire lab.

Firefighters sit in a mobile fire lab as part of a training course called Advanced Fire Behavior taught by OSU Fire Service Training. One is lighting a bundle of wood that starts to burn, while the rest of the firefighters prepare to experience extreme heat inside the lab. This training allows them to feel how hot certain temperatures are in a controlled environment.
