Amazing Gracie: Father plays bagpipes at daughter’s OSU graduation after 11 years of commencements

Tony Spurlock's daughter, Gracie, came along to watch her dad play at nearly every commencement. Over the years, the two have formed many ties with the university, creating memories along the way. This year, however, looks different for the Spurlocks. Tony will be there in December to play as his daughter will once again watch on, but this time as a graduate.

Three CAS students featured at Research Day at the Capitol

Oklahoma legislators got a glimpse of the College of Arts and Sciences’ academic talent in March through three undergraduate researchers. Aaron Austin, Sierra Posey and Sam Kauffman were invited to present their work at the Research Day at the Capitol in Oklahoma City, which is sponsored by Oklahoma’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and the National Science Foundation.

Six College of Arts and Sciences seniors receive top honors from the Alumni Association

Six seniors from the College of Arts and Sciences have been named 2020-2021 Outstanding Seniors by the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association. The Outstanding Seniors award recognizes seniors who show excellence through academic achievement; campus and community involvement; academic, athletic or extracurricular honors or awards; scholarships; and work ethic during their time at OSU.

Ethics Bowl Team reaches quarterfinals in second appearance at nationals

Oklahoma State University’s Ethics Bowl Team competed in the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics’ Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl on Feb. 26 and 27, making it to the quarterfinals alongside teams from Harvard, Stanford, USMA West Point and other prestigious schools.

Ethics Club win at regionals sets them up for second nationals appearance in three years

On November 14, OSU’s Ethics Club beat out more than a dozen university teams from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas to clinch the regional championship title at the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics’ Texas Bowl. The win qualifies them for nationals for the second time in the team’s five-year history.

College of Arts and Sciences honors 25 alumni at Hall of Fame Ceremony

Oklahoma State University’s College of Arts and Sciences honored 25 of its most successful alumni Sept. 27 during the 2019 CAS Distinguished Alumni & Hall of Fame Ceremony at the Wes Watkins Center for International Trade & Development. Ardoth Hassler and Dr. George Thompson were both inducted into the Hall of Fame, while Brent Butcher and Maddy Cunningham were named Rising Stars. There were also 21 Distinguished Alumni recipients.
