Students, faculty and alumni honored at 2026 Ferguson College of Agriculture Scholarship and Awards banquet

On March 26, the Oklahoma State University’s Ferguson College of Agriculture presented scholarships to more than 150 continuing students at the annual Scholarships and Awards Banquet.

The scholarships presented are part of the more than $1.8 million that students receive from the Ferguson College and its academic departments for the 2026-27 academic year.

In addition to the scholarship recipients, 20 seniors were named Ferguson College Seniors of Distinction. Several faculty members were also recognized for their achievements in teaching, advising and student mentoring, and three Ferguson College alumni were recognized for their success in their respective careers.

“The banquet is an opportunity to recognize students, faculty, alumni and friends of the college,” said Dr. Cynda Clary, associate dean of academic programs. “Their dedication, leadership and excellence continue to inspire our college community, and we are proud to honor them.”

The Ferguson College recognized 20 Seniors of Distinction. Of the 20 Seniors of Distinction listed below, four were also honored with the Dean’s Award of Excellence (indicated by an *). Tatumn Kennedy was named the 2026 Louis and Betty Gardner Outstanding Senior.

  • Reese Bassano – animal science, Pattonville, Texas
  • Jodee Borgerding – agribusiness and animal science, Marysville, Kansas
  • Samantha Buie – horticulture, Creston, California
  • Vail Cargo – agribusiness, Medford, Oklahoma
  • Maci Carter – agribusiness and agricultural communications, Caledonia, Ohio*
  • Derek DeGroot – agricultural systems technology, Fresno, California
  • Makenna Garrett – plant and soil sciences, Bedford, Virginia
  • Riley Gilreath – agribusiness, Avery, Texas
  • Tatumn Kennedy – biosystems engineering, Meeker, Colorado
  • Cody Loganbill – agribusiness, Lawrence, Kansas*
  • Maddie Muller – food science, Lawton, Oklahoma
  • Mattie Pettus – plant and soil sciences, Alva, Oklahoma*
  • Presley Pullen – agricultural communications and animal science, Stratford, Oklahoma
  • Angelique Robinson – entomology and psychology, Jollyville, Texas
  • Kennedy Seals – biochemistry and molecular biology, Richmond, Indiana
  • Regan Smithwick – animal science, Miles, Texas
  • Kenna Tatsch – natural resource ecology and management, Harper, Texas
  • Gracie Trueblood – horticulture, Elgin, Oklahoma
  • Harrison Wicker – agricultural communications, Rushville, Indiana
  • Jacie Wolfinger – animal science, Lexington, Nebraska*

Four Ferguson College faculty members were recognized for their commitment to teaching, advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. The recipients are:

  • Morgan Pfeiffer – Early Career Excellence in Teaching Award, Department of Animal and Food Sciences
  • Angel Riggs – Dick and Malinda Berry Fischer Award for Teaching Excellence, Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership
  • Dan Shoup – Excellence in Undergraduate Advising and Mentoring Award, Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management
  • Adel Pezeshki – Excellence in Graduate Advising and Mentoring Award, Department of Animal and Food Sciences

The Ferguson College Alumni Society Board recognized three alumni for outstanding career achievements with the Alumni Early Career Achievement Award. The recipients of this award are:

  • Jeremy Bennett – bachelor’s degree in environmental science, 2011; master’s degree in agricultural economics, 2013
  • Jessica Lindenmayer – master’s degree in entomology and plant pathology, 2015; doctoral degree in entomology, 2019
  • Jana Walker – master’s degree in agricultural economics, 2014
