Oklahoma State University will be performing Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” from April 24-26 at the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.

The production of “Cinderella” is a testament to the creativity OSU offers, not only among its students but also among its faculty. This retelling of “Cinderella” embodies the magic of imagination and learning how to stand alone in the face of adversity. Tickets can be purchased here.

“‘Cinderella’ is a classic musical theatre piece that has been very exciting for the Department of Theatre to produce!” said Marley Giggey, Department of Theatre production manager and assistant professor of professional practice. “Any time you're taking on a show that so many people have a connection to, it can be somewhat daunting, but there's so much excitement from members of the OSU and Stillwater communities that it really builds the enthusiasm!”

This year, OSU has invited Conner Wilson, a freelance director and Broadway associate director, to oversee ‘Cinderella.’

“We have been able to bring in a guest artist, Conner Wilson, to direct this production, and it's a great opportunity for our students to work with an industry professional who brings an entirely new perspective,” Giggey said.

Wilson has more than a few unique experiences under his belt. Wilson has been involved with Broadway musicals, including the “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” directing team and casting actors such as Keanu Reeves. In short, Wilson understands theatre.

Wilson began his career at the University of Oklahoma, attending OU for seven weeks, which set him up to move to Chicago to join a theatre company. His goal for directing “Cinderella” is to lean into the story’s elegance, beauty and poetry and use his knowledge and expertise to elevate the performance.

“This is a sizable show with 20 student members of the acting company, 25 students working on the technical crew and many more who have helped to build, sew, paint, light and manage all the elements of the production,” Giggey said. “The costume lab has built over 80 costume pieces while also working on two additional productions this semester.”

The production of ‘Cinderella’ encapsulates OSU Arts Week, celebrating being part of the story and becoming art. OSU creative students have worked endlessly on this production and look forward to putting on another standing-ovation-worthy performance.

Wilson stated that the main goal of ‘Cinderella’ is to inspire students, faculty and theatergoers alike.

“Our faculty design team has created a magical world, and we're excited for the audience to see how everything has come together,” Giggey said. “It's always an added bonus when families can come and see a show all together, and this is one where everyone will find something to enjoy!”

The 2025-26 theatre season was a success, according to Lee Brasuell, head of the Department of Theatre.

"We hosted two student matinees, reaching over 700 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, and set new records for both attendance and total ticket sales revenue," Brasuell said. "Three of our top 10 grossing productions took place this year, with 'Cinderella' notably surpassing 'Oklahoma' in total ticket sales. 'Oklahoma' sold 1,279 tickets, while 'Cinderella' sold 1,696, excluding matinee attendance. Including the 'Cinderella' matinee, our total patrons numbered 2,092.

"I appreciate everyone's extra effort in growing and ensuring the success of this department and the arts here at OSU."
