Sternberg named to Kaiser Chair; OSU/A&M Regents Approve Personnel Actions

Provost/Senior Vice President and Regents professor Robert Sternberg was appointed to the George Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Ethical Leadership at Friday's OSU/A&M Board of Regents meeting in Oklahoma City. Dr. Sternberg's title is now Provost/Senior Vice President, Regents Professor and Kaiser Chair.
As part of the university's $1 billion Branding Success fund-raising campaign, the George Kaiser Family Foundation contributed $9 million to boost endowed faculty chairs. Through its gift to OSU, the Kaiser Foundation seeks to improve priority needs such as health and social services, education, engineering and technology and vocational training.

"Bob Sternberg is one of the world's leading psychologists and an expert in leadership and ethics. This chair is a perfect fit and is possible thanks to the incredible generosity and support of the Kaiser family."
Sternberg is currently President of the Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences and is past-president of the American Psychological Association. His doctorate is from Stanford and he holds 12 honorary doctorates in addition to being an honorary professor at Heidelberg University in Germany. He is the author of roughly 1,400 publications and has received more than $20 million in government and other grants, as well as more than two dozen national and international honors and awards.
Sternberg is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Education.

CHANGES: Brian J. Carter, Plant and Soil Sciences, title change from professor to professor and director of undergraduate Environmental Studies; William Jaco Jr., mathematics, title change from interim department head, Kerr Chair, and Regents professor to department head, Kerr Chair, and Regents professor; Robert Cornell, accounting, title change from assistant professor to assistant professor, Wilton T. Anderson professor and coordinator; and Carol Johnson, accounting, title change from associate professor and W.T. Anderson professor to associate dean, associate professor and Stinchcomb Family professor.
From the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, Carey Pope, physiological sciences, title change from department head, regents professor and endowed chair to regents professor and endowed chair.
