At Oklahoma State University, values are more than a lesson taught. Rooted in the Cowboy Code, OSU’s shared principles shape how students learn, lead and engage with the world around them.

The commitment to stand for what’s right shows up in classrooms, student organizations and in moments when speaking up requires courage. It is a value that each individual develops over time and is built on a foundation of confidence in their own voice.

OSU asked students across campus how the university has helped them find their voice and helped develop their confidence.

"My confidence level in public speaking and trying new things, going from high school to college, has definitely improved a lot."

- Steven Bachelor, plant and soil sciences
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

"Being so far from home, I feel like OSU has helped me develop a community here, which definitely helps you become more confident in who you are."

- Haylie Dejong, agricultural business
Visalia, California

"OSU is a place that makes you feel like you're at home. It shapes people in different ways and helps them surround themselves with people they can relate to."

- Dylan DeWitt, agricultural business

"I've always felt confident in my voice, but OSU helped sharpen it."

- Sadia Kamal, computer science

"All of the people I've met and clubs I've been in have helped me develop more of my personality."

- Paisley Lewis, accounting

"The undergraduate research program has been amazing. Developing relationships with professors and peers who are passionate about the same things has really helped me a lot."

- Aiden Collins, zoology
Shiner, Texas

"Coming to OSU, I got to experience a different culture than my own, and having that diverse education has bettered my view of the world."

- Payton Hammer, English education
