Hamm Institute for American Energy at OSU announces leadership transition

Dr. Ann Bluntzer Pullin to join Advisory Board and serve as Special Advisor to Harold Hamm
Today, the Hamm Institute for American Energy at Oklahoma State University announced that Ann Bluntzer Pullin, PhD, will transition from her role as Executive Director of the institute into the role of Special Advisor to Harold Hamm and join the institute’s Advisory Board. In her new role, she will help advance key relationships, support major initiatives, and strengthen the institute’s voice on the national and global stage. This leadership alignment is designed to support growth and long-term direction at the advisory board and strategic level.
“I am grateful to Ann for her service to the institute. This transition reflects both Ann's outstanding leadership while Executive Director and the importance of the role she will continue to play as board member in the future,” said Harold Hamm. “Ann has helped build a strong foundation for this institute. She has expanded its reach and deepened its impact. We are grateful for Ann’s service and look forward to her board-level impact.”
Since assuming her leadership role, Bluntzer Pullin has strengthened the Hamm Institute's profile as a serious and trusted convener in the national energy conversation. Under her direction, the institute has expanded its presence around the most consequential energy issues facing the country including the advancement of energy security for America and its allies, workforce development and practical pathways for reliable, aRordable energy growth.
The Hamm Institute has also emerged as a leading voice in the eRort to address the extraordinary energy demands of the AI era. Through its American Energy + AI Initiative, the Institute has brought together leaders across energy, technology, academia, finance, manufacturing, and policy to advance a national blueprint for reliable, scalable energy infrastructure capable of supporting American competitiveness.
Bluntzer Pullin said, “It has been a tremendous privilege to help build the Hamm Institute and to work alongside Mr. Hamm, Oklahoma State University leadership, and partners across the country and around the world. I am proud of what we have built and excited to now serve in an advisory board role that allows me to focus on the long-term mission of advancing American energy leadership.”
In collaboration with the Hamm Institute Advisory Board, Oklahoma State University will launch a national search for the next Executive Director in the coming weeks.
“Ann has been a driving force to advance and elevate the mission of the Hamm Institute during her time at the helm,” said OSU President Jim Hess. “She has paved the way for us to recruit the next leader to advance that mission even further.”
During this transition, Katie Altshuler, Deputy Executive Director of the Hamm Institute since June 2025, will oversee the institute’s operations and lead ongoing initiatives. She will work closely with the Advisory Board and Oklahoma State University leadership while a search is conducted for the next Executive Director.
