Oklahoma State University has earned recognition in six categories in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, highlighting the university’s academic strength across a range of disciplines.

The 2026 rankings evaluated more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities, using up to 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate success.

OSU was ranked among the nation’s top 100 public universities at No. 99 in the Top Public Schools — National Universities category. The university also ranked No. 191 among all National Universities.

“These rankings reflect the strength and breadth of the academic experience at OSU and, more importantly, the work our faculty and staff do every day to help students succeed,” Interim Provost Chris Francisco said. “As we move forward with our strategic plan, we are focused on strengthening academic programs, helping our students develop the critical and independent thinking skills and creativity that will serve them well in the workplace, no matter where their career path takes them.”

OSU launched a new five-year strategic plan Monday morning at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center, outlining eight goals focused on the student experience, academic access, research, statewide engagement, emerging technology and systemwide growth. The plan emphasizes enhancing the student experience with direct mentorship opportunities and bringing discovery to communities across the state through the OSU Extension network.

“Our new strategic plan sets a clear direction for how Oklahoma State University will build on its academic strengths and develop innovative approaches to helping students navigate a rapidly changing world,” Dr. Francisco said. “That means expanding access, supporting student success and ensuring our academic programs continue to prepare Cowboys with the knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to thrive after graduation”

OSU’s Spears School of Business ranked No. 83 nationally among undergraduate business programs, while the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology was ranked No. 102 among undergraduate engineering programs at institutions where the highest engineering degree offered is a doctorate.

Several OSU undergraduate academic programs earned national recognition in the latest rankings:

• Undergraduate Engineering, Doctorate — No. 102
• Undergraduate Computer Science — No. 141
• Undergraduate Psychology — No. 163

The U.S. News Best Colleges rankings annually evaluate colleges and universities across the country and provide prospective students and families with information about institutions and undergraduate programs.

The rankings reflect the breadth of academic opportunities available to OSU students, from business and computing to engineering and the social sciences. The latest recognition adds to OSU’s growing list of national and international rankings across academic disciplines, research and student success.
