The OSU/A&M Board of Regents mourns the passing of Calvin Anthony, a former regent whose 16 years of service helped shape Oklahoma State University and the A&M System into what they are today.

A lifelong Stillwater resident, Anthony was appointed to the board by Gov. Brad Henry in 2006 and reappointed by Gov. Mary Fallin in 2013, ultimately serving two terms and three years as board chair. Before his time as a regent he served as mayor of Stillwater and as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, carrying the same spirit of civic duty into every chapter of his public life.

As a regent, Anthony was known for his steady judgment and his focus on keeping a college education within reach for Oklahoma families. He championed causes across the OSU/A&M System and remained a devoted advocate long after his service on the board concluded. His honors included induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, the Stillwater Hall of Fame and the OSU Hall of Fame.

"Calvin devoted the best of himself to this state and this university through many years of service," said OSU/A&M Board of Regents Chair Joe Hall. "He brought common sense and a lifetime of love for Oklahoma State to every decision at the table. Because of his commitment to educational access and affordability, the lives of thousands of Oklahomans are better because of Calvin, and his legacy and impact will continue to live in the hearts of everyone he knew and loved."

The Board of Regents extends its deepest condolences to the Anthony family and to the countless Oklahomans whose lives were touched by Calvin Anthony's decades of service to Oklahoma State University, the city of Stillwater and the state of Oklahoma.
