The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology’s Construction Engineering Technology program within the School of Fire, Construction and Emergency Management demonstrated excellence on the regional stage, with four student teams traveling to Dallas to compete in the 2026 Associated Schools of Construction Region 5 student competitions.

Facing opponents from the top construction programs across Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, all four OSU teams placed in their respective divisions, returning home with trophies, prize checks and top individual honors.

ASC competitions are nationally recognized for simulating real-world construction challenges, requiring students to analyze project scenarios, develop comprehensive proposals under strict time constraints and present their solutions to industry professionals serving as judges.

The OSU teams, coached by CET faculty, produced the following results:

1st Place – Concrete Solutions

The Concrete Solutions team, coached by Dr. Dan Cook, earned first place overall, with Ethan Via recognized as best presenter in the division.

Team members also included Cayden Capages, Cooper Coffman, Aidan Colquitt, Dane Jensen and Bryan Sandoval.

“The students put in a lot of work, and it showed with their solid presentations and respective awards,” said Dr. Heather Yates, professor and school head. “OSU Construction Engineering Technology had a great night in Dallas, and our program really stood out in the region.”

Participation in ASC competitions allows students to apply classroom knowledge in estimating, scheduling, cost control, risk analysis and team leadership while building professional connections with industry partners. Employers frequently attend the competition, making it a premier recruiting and networking opportunity.

With every OSU team placing in 2026, the CET program continues to strengthen its reputation for producing industry-ready graduates and for excellence in experiential construction education.
