The Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City Student Government Association is welcoming a new group of student leaders who will serve as advocates for their fellow students during the 2026-27 academic year.

SGA serves as the representative body for all OSU-OKC students, helping sponsor and co-sponsor campus activities, recommending the spending of student activity fees and representing students on campus committees.

Leading the organization this year is President Diana Aviles, a pre-professional civil engineering student and active member of Project SOAR. Aviles also works in the Student Life Office and volunteers in the campus food pantry. She says she hopes to lead with kindness and integrity while encouraging students to make their voices heard.

Vice President Alexia Lopez is pursuing a degree in cardiovascular sonography after recently earning a degree in enterprise development. In addition to her involvement in student leadership, Lopez works as a shift lead at Walgreens and is a licensed pharmacy technician. She hopes to help students get involved on campus and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels heard.

Secretary James Romero is a pre-professional student preparing for a career as an attorney. Returning for his second year as a student, Romero plans to use his strengths in communication and understanding to help achieve positive outcomes for students both on campus and online.

Treasurer Jordan Cope is a nursing major who is active in the community through volunteer work with Legacy Parenting in Shawnee. Cope says they look forward to meeting students and can often be found in the Allied Health Building.

Serving as Student Activity Board Chair is Kris Hempel, an Oklahoma native and returning student who, along with her husband, operates a small organic farm in north Edmond. Hempel previously worked with Family Programs and Yellow Ribbon during her husband’s military service and brings experience in event planning to SGA. She hopes to create activities for both traditional and nontraditional students.

Together, the officers hope to make student voices heard, strengthen connections across campus and create opportunities for students to get involved. Students interested in learning more about SGA or getting involved can visit the OSU-OKC Student Government Association webpage or email okc.sga@okstate.edu.
