Broken Arrow High School Construction Academy students can now earn credits toward a Construction Technology degree at OSU Institute of Technology.

OSUIT and Broken Arrow Public Schools created the college credit pathway to give Construction Academy students the opportunity to earn a microcredential in Construction Fundamentals and receive up to nine credit hours toward OSUIT's Associate in Applied Science in Construction Technology, Construction Management option.

Students who complete three aligned construction pathways covering topics such as construction materials, blueprint reading, construction procedures and OSHA safety requirements may qualify for prior-learning credit toward the degree.

"We are thrilled to partner with OSU-IT to expand our Hardesty Family Construction program from a two-year program to a four-year program," said Broken Arrow Public Schools Superintendent Chuck Perry. "Our students deserve access to a variety of career pathways, and this expansion will allow us to serve even more students interested in the construction industry and the many opportunities available in skilled trades.”

The Broken Arrow High School Options Academy will host the courses. BAPS will provide qualified instructors, classroom and lab space, equipment, supplies and materials. OSUIT will align and oversee the core curriculum and provide training content and instructional materials.

“Students should not have to choose between preparing for a career and preparing for college. Through this partnership, Broken Arrow students can do both — earning an industry-recognized construction credential while remaining on a defined path toward an OSUIT degree,” said Heather Ortiz, OSUIT vice provost.

Prior-learning credit will be posted to a student's OSUIT academic transcript after the student successfully completes six semester credit hours of college-level coursework through OSUIT.

The agreement is effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029, and may be renewed in one-year increments. The partnership will be implemented in phases beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.
