At the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Girish Patil is helping shape both the classroom experience and the broader curriculum for veterinary students. A teaching assistant professor in physiological sciences, Patil joined the OSU CVM in 2022 and plays a key role in anatomy instruction.
Patil is part of the instructional team for both anatomy courses and currently serves as instructor of record for Comparative Anatomy. In that role, he helps students build foundational knowledge essential for clinical training.
In addition to teaching, Patil has been actively involved in curriculum development. He has served on the Curriculum and Effective Instruction Committee for the past four years and currently chairs the committee. The group monitors and evaluates the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum and recommends updates to course content, scheduling and delivery based on student outcomes and assessments. The committee also reviews and approves new courses and certifications.
Patil’s work has also focused on enhancing hands-on learning in the anatomy lab. He recently led efforts to acquire two virtual dissection tables, which will be available to students beginning in June 2026.
“These tables will be available for students to use starting June 2026, and have cadavers of a dog, cat, frog, mouse and monkey that students can virtually dissect and study different anatomical structures,” Patil said.
The technology is designed to supplement traditional instruction and provide additional opportunities for students to study complex systems at their own pace. All CVM students and faculty will have access to the tables.
Through his roles in teaching, curriculum development and instructional innovation, Patil continues to support student learning and strengthen the academic experience at OSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
