Schweitzer Fellow Abbey Renner aims to educate about diabetes care

Renner’s year-long project aims to address the high rates of diabetes among adults in the Tulsa community by launching and running recurring diabetes education classes at Xavier Medical Clinic, a free clinic for uninsured patients that serves a largely Spanish-speaking population with a high prevalence of diabetes.
Abbey Renner, a second year medical student at OSU-COM, was awarded an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.

Palace Drug, a locally owned pharmacy in Cleveland, Oklahoma, has become the first pharmacy to join forces with Oklahoma State University’s Prevention Programs (OSUPP), the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI) and Covanta Environmental Solutions to collect and safely destroy leftover pharmaceuticals free of charge.
