Faculty in the College of Education, Health and Aviation are participating in the 2019 STEM for All Video Showcase funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) May 13-20. The team’s three-minute video, “Towards Increasing Native American Engineering Faculty,” highlights research about the factors that promote Native Americans’ entry and persistence into engineering and the engineering professorate.

Each year, OSU’s Staff Advisory Council holds the Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony to recognize staff members across the University for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the overall success of the University. Awards are presented to the top ten employees nominated by their supervisors or co-workers. OSU leads efforts to improve students’ math success at all Oklahoma colleges

For students who struggle in math, it doesn’t matter which of the 27 public institutions governed by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education they attend. With the help of a team of mathematicians from Oklahoma State University, all of the colleges are working together to improve student success in entry-level math courses, and the pilot results have been astounding.

New Assistant VP for Research Compliance chosen

Dr. Dawn Underwood has been named the new OSU Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance. Most recently, Underwood served as the Assistant Vice President for Research at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. Prior to that, she served as the Associate Dean for Sponsored Programs in the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at Indiana State University. Her work in research administration spans nearly two decades overseeing sponsored programs, grants and compliance programs.

New research grants inspire faculty to ‘swing for the fences’

The Oklahoma State University Office of the Vice President for Research has awarded grants of up to $25,000 to five interdisciplinary research teams under a new program called Swinging for the Fences. The program rewards faculty teams that aggressively pursue research home runs.
