Historical energy conference to be again hosted at OSU

Oklahoma State University is proud to announce its 45th annual Frontiers of Power Conference will be held on October 29-30 in Stillwater. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as the Engineering Energy Laboratory at OSU, are co-sponsoring with OG&E, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Grand River Dam Authority and Siemens Energy to make this two-day program available to the public.

The conference will focus on expanding power technologies impacted by environmental concerns, renewable energy options, security issues, power quality needs in a digitalsociety and the opportunities with embed sensors.  The conference will also address computers and two-way communications that utilize the Internet to evolve a smart grid.

Keynote speakers include: Dr. Ram Adapa, Power Delivery and Utilization at the Electric Power Research Institute; Dr. Miroslav M. Begovic, President-Elect for IEEE Power and Energy Society and current Chair of the Electrical Energy Research Group at the Georgia Institute of Technology; Dr. Joydeep Mitra, Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering at Michigan State University; and Dr. Murty V. V. S.Yalla, President of Beckwith Electric Co., Inc.

Considered one of the longest running, successful conferences of its type, this  line-up of speakers are sure to draw attention, with seven IEEE Fellows on the list.

The variety of papers and the highly acclaimed keynote speakers scheduled in this 45th annual conference reflect changing times in energy and provide an opportunity for free and open discussion of important issues with serious economic implications.

This opportunity is available to engineering professional in power companies, as well as students and faculty at OSU.  Two undergraduate scholarships and two graduate scholarships will be announced during the event, continuing the tradition of Dr. Bill Hughes, former ECE Department Head at OSU.

The conference is free to OSU faculty and students, and only $150 for the general public. Students at other colleges and universities receive a discounted fee of $70.
