OSU College of Education Announces 2007 Hall of Fame Inductees

Four outstanding individuals have been selected for induction into the College of Education’s 2007 Hall of Fame at Oklahoma State University.

The ninth annual event will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007, at the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center in Stillwater in Stillwater.

Induction into the COE Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the college. Inductees are chosen by a committee of representatives of the College’s Alumni Association, Associates, students, faculty, and administration.

The 2007 OSU College of Education Hall of Fame inductees: 

Alyce Faye Eichelberger Cleese of Montecito, Calif., and London is a 1966 secondary education graduate and a former queen of Willard Hall when it was a residence hall. She is a psychotherapist and the renowned author of “How to Manage Your Mother: Understanding the Most Difficult, Complicated, and Fascinating Relationship in Your Life.” She studied at the Tavistock Clinic in London and with Anna Freud, and received master’s degrees in educational psychology and in vocational and educational counseling from Baylor University. Her advanced degree, the Diploma in the Maladjusted Child, came from the University of London Institute of Education. Eichelberger Cleese was recently honored by Harvard University for her work in psychotherapy.
 

Dr. Thomas McKeon of Tulsa, president of Tulsa Community College, received his master’s degree in 1983 and his doctorate in 1989 from the OSU College of Education. He began his career in 1980

at TCC as a horticulture instructor and progressed through the ranks of dean, provost, vice president, associate vice president, executive vice president and ultimately president.  In 1999 he received the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction from Phi Theta Kappa International.       

Dr. Nancy O’Donnell of Edmond, considered the matriarch of the OSU College of Education’s Celebration of Teaching, is recognized throughout the state as a top educator. She was the 1983 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year and was first runner up for 1983 National Teacher of the Year. She received her master’s degree in1980 and her doctorate in 1988 from the college. She was the first College of Education development officer and has authored numerous articles.    

Phil Trenary of Memphis, Tenn., is the CEO of Pinnacle Airlines. In 2000, he was recognized as the Regional Airline Executive of the Year. He is a friend of the COE, a former Flying Aggie and a 1979 OSU alumnus. In 2004, Pinnacle was the fastest growing airline in the world under Trenary’s leadership. In 2005, Pinnacle transported more than eight million customers, up substantially from 1.2 million in 2000.
