Education alumna recognized for early career literacy advocacy efforts

Mollie Tully-Detamore, Oklahoma State University alumna, has received the Oklahoma Higher Education Reading Council Beginning Teacher Award. This award is given to a teacher in his or her first three years of teaching who is dedicated to literacy development and literacy integration in the classroom. Tully-Detamore was recognized for her efforts at the Oklahoma Literacy Association Annual Conference on the OSU-Tulsa campus on April 6.

Oklahoma State University has been recognized as having one of the top 10 online master’s in educational technology degree programs by College Values Online. Selection criteria includes accreditation, rankings in major publications and affordability. Fifty schools were chosen and ranked based on raw affordability, and OSU came in ninth on the recently published list.

OSU to Host Stockton/Brooks Free Speech Lecture March 7

Oklahoma State University will host the inaugural Stockton/Brooks Lecture on Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m. in the Wes Watkins Center. The lecture will feature two prominent civil rights and free speech activists, Azhar Majeed and Andy Lester, and will address concerns related to thought control and free speech on college campuses today.

Tim Baghurst Awarded NCAA Research Grant

Dr. Tim Baghurst, associate professor in health and human performance, has been awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) grant totaling nearly $20,000 to fund a research project supporting international student-athletes.

The College of Education, Health and Aviation's career and technical education program was ranked as the No. 7 such program in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in 2010. The college also is one of the few institutions that offers a four-year degree in aviation. In addition to programs in elementary, secondary and physical education, the college offers degrees in health promotion, recreation management and therapeutic recreation.
