The School of Accounting at Oklahoma State University will host the 10th annual Oil
and Gas Accounting Conference on Nov. 20 in Tulsa.
The conference will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Tulsa.
Conference participants can earn four hours of CPE credit including one hour of ethics.
This conference brings together nationally recognized experts from the Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC), the American Petroleum Institute (API), corporate finance
executives, and professional accountants to discuss current issues related to oil
and gas accounting. The conference is offered in cooperation with the Council of Petroleum
Accountants Societies (COPAS).
Charlotte Wright, professor and Anadarko Petroleum Chair in Accounting in OSU’s Spears
School of Business, and Robert Cornell, department head and Wilton T. Anderson Chair in
the School of Accounting, are coordinating the conference offered in conjunction with
the 14th annual Accounting and Financial Reporting Conference on Nov. 21 at the Hyatt Regency.
“This conference supports School of Accounting academic program scholarships while
providing an important opportunity for accounting and finance professionals from the
region to interact with national leading experts,” Cornell said.
Chris Campbell, director of International Accounting at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation,
will present “International Accounting and Finance: Observations, Trends and Insights”
and Lisa Ceglia, director of Federal Relations for the American Petroleum Institute
in Washington, D.C., will give a “Washington, D.C. Update” on the oil and gas industry
and energy policy.
Jonathan Duersch, associate chief accountant of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
in Washington, D.C., will address “SEC Current Issues” and take an in-depth look at
oil and gas accounting and reporting issues. “White Collar Crime and Fraud Schemes”
will be presented by Kevin Markey, a special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The conference will conclude with an engaging question-and-answer panel session featuring
the conference speakers and moderated by Samantha Primm, analyst at ConocoPhillips.
“We appreciate the outstanding support of accounting and finance alumni and friends
of the OSU School of Accounting. This conference attracts over 300 people from the
corporate and government sector,” said Wright.
