The School of Accounting at Oklahoma State University will host the 14th annual Accounting
and Financial Reporting Conference on Nov. 21 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa.
The conference is endorsed by Financial Executives International (FEI). The conference
is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with participants receiving eight hours of CPE
credit including one hour of ethics.
This conference brings together nationally recognized experts from the U.S. Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and the
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), as well as a number of corporate
finance executives and public accounting professionals to discuss current issues in
the field of accounting and finance.
Charlotte Wright, professor and Anadarko Petroleum Chair in Accounting in OSU’s Spears
School of Business, and Robert Cornell, department head and Wilton T. Anderson Chair
in the School of Accounting, are coordinating the conference in conjunction with the
10th annual Oil and Gas Accounting Conference on Nov. 20 at the Hyatt Regency.
“This conference supports the School of Accounting students and promotes faculty interaction
with alumni while providing the important opportunity for accounting and finance professionals
to interact with leading experts from across the country,” Wright said. “We usually
attract nearly 400 people to this unique conference.”
The conference agenda includes an SEC update from Melissa Rocha, senior assistant
chief accountant with the Division of Corporation Finance in the U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission.
Evelyn Angelle shares insights on “Transforming a Supply Chain Organization,” detailing
her experiences as senior vice president of supply chain with Halliburton in Houston,
Texas. Vickie Carr, national competency leader, Financial Reporting of Taxes for Deloitte
Tax LLP in Dallas, will present “Financial Reporting for Taxes.”
Also, Jade Walle, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, will present a session called
“The Fair Tax–What It Is and Is Not.” Clifton Gray, Manager, Application Architecture
from ONEOK, Inc., will present, “Applied Influence.”
An “Update from the FASB” will be given by board member Daryl Buck of the Financial
Accounting Standards Board from Norwalk, Connecticut, and an “Update of PCAOB Activities”
will be given by John Fiebig, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board from Irving,
Texas.
Jeff Roberts from the Forensics and Valuation Services at BKD LLP will give a “2014
Fraud Update,” giving examples of cases from the frontline. Other topics include a
variety of financial reporting and income tax issues. Speakers, panel participants
and moderators are from ConocoPhillips, Devon Energy Corporation, Ernst & Young, Grant
Thornton LLP, KPMG LLP, Opportune LLP, Phillips 66, and Stinnett & Associates.
