The Spears School of Business was well represented when Oklahoma State University
celebrated excellence by recognizing the achievements of faculty, staff and administrators
at the University Awards Convocation last week at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center
in Stillwater.
The Loyal and True Award, which personifies the spirit of OSU through unwavering devotion,
personal sacrifice and commitment of time and talents, went to Gary Trennepohl, the former dean of the Spears School who also served as the president of OSU-Tulsa.
Trennepohl has co-authored two college level textbooks and more than 30 professional
journal articles.
“When my name was called to receive the Loyal and True Award, I was truly surprised
and greatly honored to be recognized in this way. Being loyal and true proved once again the right thing to do. I want to thank everyone who played a role
in my nomination and selection,” said Trennepohl.
“OSU is a special place with special people. My work at OSU the past 19 years has
been extremely rewarding and I’ve been given opportunities that I never dreamed I
would have. For me and my family, OSU will always have a special place in our hearts,”
Trennepohl said.
Rick Wilson, professor and head of the department of management science and information systems
and W. Paul Miller Professor of Business Administration, received the 2014 Regents
Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest honor faculty at OSU can receive for instruction.
“Throughout my 25 years and the different roles I’ve played at OSU my strongest passion
remains engaging our students in the classroom and helping them, in whatever small
way we can, become better business leaders of the future,” said Wilson. “I’ve been
lucky to be honored with other awards in the past but the Regents Distinguished Teaching
Award is a career-capper for me. I’m quite humbled to be recognized with this award.”
Federico Aime, associate professor of management, received the Leave the Ladder Down Award (is there
a description of this award?)
“Retrospectively, I think they gave me an award for one of the most rewarding aspects
of our faculty job, helping make others’ efforts count,” said Aime. “I see so many
people doing that in their own way every day here at OSU that it was really surprising
to get the award myself.”
Abigail Minch, senior academic counselor in the Spears School’s Student Success Center, received
the Excellence in Advising Award.
“I am so honored that my students think so much of me to nominate me for this award,”
said Minch. “Every day I try to make their lives a little easier and it’s nice to
know that they see that in that the work that I do.”
