The Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business and the Center for Executive
and Professional Development present the Business Engagement Series for Thought Leaders
(BEST Leaders). The series will be held in Oklahoma City and focuses on innovative
leadership trends and developing strategic decision-making skills.
Andrew Urich, Spears School of Business associate professor of management and director
of student development, Eastin Center for Talent Development, will start the BEST
Leaders program on Feb. 4 with “Critical Thinking and Innovative Decision Making.”
Urich says participants will become conscious of their thought processes and become
better equipped with the tools and ideas to improve how they think.
“There are many definitions of critical thinking but I think the term refers to thinking
that is logical and rational, but most importantly it helps individuals create value
for themselves and their organizations. The BEST series was a very rewarding experience
for me in Tulsa and I look forward to the opportunity to work with professionals from
Oklahoma City,” said Urich.
Tracy Suter, Spears School associate professor of entrepreneurship, will then present
“Strategic IQ: Prepare and Respond to the Ever-Changing Business Environment.” Part
2 of the program will be April 22. It will address strategic IQ, formal and informal
organizational structures, and the human capacity of individuals and groups within
the firm through various examples and case studies.
Matt Bowler, Spears School professor of management, will finish the series with “Evidence-Based
Management.” Part 3 will be June 10. In this session, participants will examine the
perils of decision-making and work on techniques for more objective and rational decisions.
The fee for the BEST Leaders programs is $950 for the series or $450 per topical seminar.
Materials and refreshments are included in this registration fee and all programs
will be held at the OSU-OKC campus. To register for the BEST Leaders series or to
