OSU Leadership Development Certificate Series hosted throughout 2016 by Chesapeake Energy

Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business faculty is proud to offer leadership development programs from March to December in Oklahoma City, hosted by Chesapeake Energy on their campus in Oklahoma City.
This series recently won a national award by the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) for its concept in partnering the Spears School with Chesapeake Energy to provide professional development for Chesapeake employees on-site and for professionals in the community.
The Leadership Development Certificate Series is designed to prepare, motivate and build business leaders. The seminars include discussion, assessments and/or case studies so concepts are put into practice during sessions and participants are able to return to the workplace better able to implement the information presented.
Featured speakers include Raj Basu, vice president for academic affairs at OSU-Tulsa and an OSU associate professor of management; Lee Manzer, professor of marketing; Lex Smith, assistant professor of management; Tracy Suter, associate professor and Jordan Chair in Entrepreneurship, and Andrew L. Urich, associate professor of management and director of student development in the Eastin Center for Talent Development.
All sessions will be held at Chesapeake Energy and the schedule is as follows:
March 3 / 9 a.m.-noon – Innovative Thinking with Tracy Suter: This session focuses on the vital role that mindset and thinking play in the development of making good decisions and sound judgments, introducing new ideas, solving problems and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships.
March 3 / 1-4 p.m. – Building Effective Attitudes in the Workplace with Lee Manzer: Topics discussed in this seminar include how attitudes are formed, how they are organized, how they are changed and how they affect one’s self-image.
June 2 / 9 a.m.-4 p.m. – Emotional Intelligence with Lex Smith: In this session, participants will learn a validated framework for emotional intelligence. Studies have shown that people with high EI have greater mental health, exemplary job performance, and more potent leadership skills.
Sept. 1 / 9 a.m.-noon – Creating and Developing High Performance Teams with Raj Basu: This seminar covers issues across the life span of teams, from deciding when to use them, to understanding their stages of development, to moving them toward high performance.
Sept. 1 / 1-4 p.m. – Lessons from Mount Everest: A Manager’s Guide to Agile Decision – Making in a High Stakes Environment with Raj Basu: This seminar uses lessons from a tragic expedition to Mt. Everest to study decision-making in high-stakes, dynamic environments.
Dec. 1 / 9 a.m.–4 p.m. –Networking and Building Profitable Relationships with Andrew Urich: This intense program will help an individual undertake the process of cultivating people skills so that one can get ahead and progress in career.
