Eight OSU student teams make finals for Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition

Eight Oklahoma State University student teams have made it to the final round of the OSU School of Entrepreneurship’s inaugural Business Plan Competition.
The teams will present in a live pitch competition hosted by the School of Entrepreneurship’s accelerateOSU branch April 28 at Backstage in downtown Stillwater.
“The goal of the competition is to showcase OSU’s innovative technology and resources while highlighting the collaboration and innovation of the student teams,” said Haley Kurtz, event coordinator for the School of Entrepreneurship’s accelerateOSU branch. “We wanted to host a competition for all OSU students from Tulsa, Stillwater and Oklahoma City, and show that entrepreneurial ideas help promote economic development.”
The finalists are:
- Buy Lend Trade – Roy Sowah, mechanical engineering technology, and Archie Ocloolee,
mechanical engineering technology. BLT is a peer-to-peer transaction platform that
allows students to buy, sell, lend, borrow or trade books within their college community.
- Redcedar Products – Christina Anaya, biology graduate student; Wesley Honneycutt, chemistry graduate student, and John Nickel, MBA. Redcedar Products takes the eastern red cedar tree and attempts to turn it into a resource by extracting products that are used in chemotherapy treatments.
- Type It Up – Ashier Majok, marketing; Luke Harrison, economics, and Jordan Daniels, marketing. Type It Up provides digital copies of handwritten documents and delivers printed documents.
- All&In – Shuai Zhang, entrepreneurship, and Jonathan Udoka, law and finance. All&In is a retail company specializing in custom printing and phone case collections.
- Naming House – Duygu Phillips, MBA, and Niloufar Mehrafza, MBA. Naming House is an international naming and branding agency that creates unique brand names, logos and websites that can be protected by trademark registration.
- WoodPro – Samyukta Koteeswaran, chemistry PhD candidate; Sourabh Biswas, mechanical engineering PhD candidate, and Gabriel Bahr, MBA. WoodPro offers a wood composite that encompasses the strength properties of wood and the resistance of plastics, making the most durable wood product on the market.
- VisionaRx – Chance Imhoff, management and entrepreneurship; Jacquelyn Lane, chemical engineering and entrepreneurship minor, and Rachel Davis, chemical engineering pre-med emphasis. VisionaRx plans to commercialize a nanoparticle drug delivery platform, developed and owned by OSU, for retinal eye diseases.
- Crowdsourced Scholars – Shawn Jones, international studies. Crowdsourced Scholars helps people fund their college dreams through the power of crowd funding.
accelerateOSU is the latest development for the School for Entrepreneurship, replacing the Student Startup Central. The division, located at 7th and Main streets in downtown Stillwater, is an entrepreneurial incubator program that houses student startup ventures and aims to leverage university and City of Stillwater resources to help bring together business ideas.
