Jeretta Nord

Oklahoma State University’s Jeretta Nord was selected as the Spears School of Business faculty member to receive the 2017 Golden Torch Award, an annual award presented by the Achafoa Chapter of Mortar Board.

Mortar Board is a national student honor society that values scholarship, leadership and service and promotes service to colleges and universities. Each year, OSU’s chapter nominates and selects an outstanding faculty member from each college on campus who has made significant contributions toward the success of students for the Golden Torch Award.

“To be selected for the Golden Torch Award by OSU’s Achafoa chapter of Mortar Board is definitely an honor,” Nord said. “The Golden Torch Award is especially special to me because it is a student-nominated award. My career goal is to positively contribute to the overall experience and success of students, and this award recognizes those achievements.”

Nord serves as the Jeanine Rhea/Oklahoma International Women’s Forum Professor for the Department of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School. She is the faculty advisor of OSU’s chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and has co-coordinated several scholarly programs, speakers and professional development activities to contribute to the students’ knowledge, confidence and success.

“As an MSIS faculty member, I strive to provide students with knowledge and experience that parallels the achievements recognized by Mortar Board: scholarship, leadership and service,” Nord said. “This is accomplished not only in the classroom, but through outside organizations and activities as well. I am grateful to be honored.”

Nord will receive the Golden Torch Award at the Mortar Board initiation ceremony at 2 p.m. April 2 in the Student Union Ballroom on campus. She joins Lance Millis (CEAT), Stephen Clarke (Human Sciences), Ramesh Kaipa (Arts and Sciences), Tiffany Henry (Education), Angel Riggs (CASNR), John Mark Day (Campus) and Blaire Bennett (Campus) as this year’s Golden Torch Award recipients.
