Four Oklahoma State University master’s in business analytics students teamed up to place third at the DU Analytics Challenge hosted by the University of Denver.
Bobby Fisher, Vasudev Sharma, Harsh Gupta and Shubham Panat teamed up to represent OSU at the challenge. They took classroom knowledge into the real world by applying critical thinking and innovative practices to assist decision makers by offering solutions to a practical, current data analytics problem.
“It gave me an opportunity to not only compete but also meet many professionals and learn all the latest and greatest,” Panat said. “SAS GF is a great platform to see what everybody else is doing. Overall, it was great exposure to learning and networking.”
"The DU Analytics Challenge was a great opportunity to meet and compete against students from geographically distant colleges," Sharma said. "They gave a very tough but healthy competition and good exposure about how analytics is growing in other universities. The analytics team of DU gave excellent academic and professional ideas to remember, and their experience and determination towards excellence was evident."
Goutam Chakraborty, director of the OSU master’s in business analytics program and founder of the SAS and OSU data mining certificate program, is pleased with the students who competed.
“I congratulate the team of OSU analytics students who competed in this challenge and came in third,” Chakraborty said. “This is the first time we participated in this event and I am delighted our team placed in the top three in a tough field.”
