OSU offers #TimesUp Conference, Moira Forbes to Oklahoma City business community
Wednesday, February 28, 2018
With sexual harassment and gender equality becoming such a prevalent topic in the workplace, Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business is presenting the first ever #TimesUp half-day conference April 18 at Cole’s Garden in Oklahoma City.
The conference is from 8:30-11 a.m., with an optional luncheon session offered afterward with Moira Forbes, publisher of ForbesWoman. She will be speaking on “Leading through Power Change” at the OSU Executive Management Briefing from noon-1:30 p.m. at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Now more than ever, employees and employers have a lot of questions around discrimination and harassment in the workplace. In the wake of recent events that have unfolded in Hollywood, U.S. politics, the Olympics and more, the conversation around gender equality and a harassment-free workplace is even more urgent. Participants will explore the issues surrounding gender roles in the workplace, legal considerations and how to promote a culture of inclusion and respect. Those attending the conference will better understand how these events impact their workplace and what they can do to be proactive in the workplace.
Sessions are as follows:
- Men, Women & Sexual Politics: A Workplace History by Lex Smith-Washington, Ph.D, OSU assistant professor of management;
- Prevention of Sexual Harassment by Griffin Pivateau, J.D., OSU associate professor of legal studies in business;
- Harvey Who and #MeToo: Where do we go From Here? by Abbey Davis, MBA, OSU adjunct instructor of management.
The sessions will be followed by a discussion panel session.
In regard to the Executive Management Briefing, Forbes is the president and publisher of ForbesWoman and also the executive vice president of Forbes Media, where she is responsible for programming and branding Forbes events worldwide and driving new business initiatives across the company’s diverse media platforms. She is currently the host of Success with Moira Forbes, a video series on the Forbes Video Network, featuring candid, one-on-one interviews with today’s top women leaders.
Individual registration for the #TimesUp conference only is $125 per person. Registration for both the #TimesUp conference and the Moira Forbes Executive Management Briefing luncheon is $210 per person. A group discount is available for registrations of eight or more participants. Sponsorships are also available at this time.
