OSU Spears School of Business will host Professional Development Seminars in Ponca City

Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business will host professional development seminars in Ponca City. The seminars will be held September 2018-April 2019 at the University Center at Ponca City. Sessions are held from 9 a.m.-12 noon and 1-4 p.m.

These sessions are offered in cooperation with Dorado Foods, the University Center at Ponca City and the OSU Center for Executive and Professional Development.

Seminars will help participants strengthen and develop new skills and receive relevant, practical information which can be readily applied in the workplace. The program is designed for managers, leaders, or front-line employees from organizations at all stages with various backgrounds. Participants will build on peer’s knowledge to leave the program with the best possible skills for addressing challenges. All sessions are taught by Spears Business faculty.

Sept. 12: Morning and afternoon sessions will be taught by Mac McCrory, adjunct instructor of management, on “Resolving Team Issues.” 

Oct. 10: “Enhancing Employee Engagement through Coaching” is taught by Raj Basu, associate professor of management from 9 a.m.-noon. The afternoon session is entitled “Accountability at Work: How to Eliminate Mediocrity and Increase Productivity,” taught by Kyle Eastham, executive in residence, from 1-4 p.m.

Nov. 14: Morning and afternoon sessions on the topic of “Finance for the Nonfinancial Manager” are taught by David Carter, Greg Massey Professor of Finance and OBA Chair of Commercial Bank Management.

The Spring series will be offered February-April 2019. 

Feb. 13: Morning and afternoon sessions are taught on the topic ofEthics Awareness:  Managing for an Ethical Workplace” by Andrew Urich, associate professor of management.

March 13: “Leading an Energetic Culture” is the morning session and “Fish! Philosophy” is the afternoon session both taught by Lee Manzer, professor emeritus of marketing.

April 10: “Strategic Thinking: Leading Innovation and Value Creation” is offered by Urich, in the morning and followed by “Professional Image:  Position Yourself for Success” in the afternoon.
