Teams advance to finals of Business Analytics case competition

Three groups of Oklahoma State University Master’s in Business Analytics students recently advanced to the finals of the first ever Business Analytics case competition.
The three teams, out of 14 participating in the competition, advance to participate in the finals on Friday, Nov. 16, with the order of finish to be announced at that time.
“This is the first time we are holding a Business Analytics case competition on the OSU campus,” said Goutam Chakraborty, SAS professor of marketing analytics and director of the Master’s in Business Analytics program at Spears Business. “This is an important step in analytics students’ professional development.”
The three teams advancing to the finals are:
- Team 6: Navjot Kaur, Thu Dinh, Prajakta Pai, Dhruv Sharma and Anjali Bansal;
- Team 1: Katie Coon, Arindam Mukerjee, Abhiram Pannala, Parag Sasturkar and Tayyibah Ras;
- Team 11: Alvi Mahmud, Yogesh Dhingra, Jaya Bhatia, Alex Lobman and Ravi Josyula.
Chakraborty says the judges were impressed with what they saw from the OSU students.
“I thank Balamurugan Mohan, Zabiulla Mohammed, Snigdha Gutha, Vivek Manikandan Damodaran, Sharat Dwibhasi, Lynn Xiang, Randy Collica, Venu Gopal Lolla and Logan Edmonds for helping judge the first round of the case competition,” Chakraborty said. “I am also very proud of our students’ performance at this competition. All of the judges mentioned that they were highly impressed with the presentation quality and it was very difficult for them to narrow down the top three teams.”
