Oklahoma State University placed highly on the 2021 edition of ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, specifically the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The Chinese-based organization has been publishing the list since 2009, along with an academic ranking of the world’s universities. Its initial purpose was to see how Chinese universities ranked against the world’s best, but the list has become a measuring stick for many universities and programs around the globe.

OSU ranked in the top 600 of more than 1,800 universities that made the list from the 4,000 that ShanghaiRanking looked at. The list includes higher learning institutions from 93 countries worldwide.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management ranked 22nd in the world, with Business Administration, Management and Veterinary Sciences placing in the top 200.

There are 54 subjects across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences that are graded for the list. Hospitality and Tourism Management falls under the social sciences division.

OSU programs that placed in the top 300 worldwide were agricultural sciences and physics; education and biotechnology placed among the top 400. Rounding out the OSU subjects graded were chemical engineering, computer science and engineering, ecology, economics and psychology.

OSU placed in the top 500 in every subject.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is part of the Spears School of Business and is one of the nation’s oldest programs, founded in 1937. For more information on the school, click here
