In honor of Black History Month, the Spears School of Business African American Business Student Association (AABSA) sponsored a busload of Oklahoma State University students, faculty and staff for a recent trip to the historic Greenwood District of Tulsa.

The day started with a walking tour of the Greenwood District, which included the Ellis Walker Woods Memorial on the original site of Booker T. Washington High School, as well as the John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park. The group also toured the new Greenwood Rising museum and participated in a dialogue session led by Dr. Lex Smith Washington, Spears Business associate professor and senior inclusion officer.

The tour’s theme centered around not only the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, but the entrepreneurs and visionaries of the past and present Greenwood District.
